AuSome Evening 2017
Friday, April 28, 2017

We are excited to announce that our 8th annual AuSome Evening will be held Friday, April 28th, 2017. We have secured our keynote speaker Travis Saunders.

A bit about our amazing speaker, Travis currently lives in Australia with his partner Fiona and son Patch. He has taught all over the world including Singapore, England, New Zealand and Australia and has an established career in welfare and behavioral management and knows how to communicate and engage with people at all levels. Five years ago, Travis left mainstream education to care for his son who has autism and created 1:1 programs for children with disabilities.  Travis has been an acting assistant principal, careers councilor, welfare coordinator and behavior advisor. In 2013, Travis ran 12 marathons in 12 months. This last summer he and Fiona cycled 3480 miles across America with their 7-year-old son with autism. His family motto “there is nothing we can’t do”. Travis founded the web platform www.run4autism.net, which has raised more than $150,000 for 10 Australian nonprofit organizations and has appeared in the media extensively for his work in autism advocacy. While some things in life are simply impossible, Travis will talk to you about how being tested by adversity and failing has led him to look at life differently and help his son develop resilience. Travis is an exciting presenter and uses the space in the room to engage the audience. No talk is BORING. Every presentation has people captivated, often laughing and sometimes crying as he explores the depths of how his son’s disability changed his family’s life for the better and how goal setting doesn’t need to be a task when you are motivated by the outcomes.Learn as he shares his tips for making the impossible, POSSIBLE. His stories relate to so many aspects of our lives and highlight parallels for all member of the community.
